Using the Commerce area

If you have a Commerce link in your Home Menu, this will take you to the main Commerce area, which contains links to Orders, Inventory, Customers, and Discounts. You may notice that these are the exact same four items that were listed earlier in this chapter on the special e-commerce version of the Home Menu. That's because they are the same; e-commerce templates simply bypass the extra click that's required on non-commerce templates.

The Commerce area is where you will be able to manage your products or services, track orders, and manage offers and discounts. However, you will only be able to use the Customers panel if you subscribe to a Squarespace Commerce plan. The Customers panel includes advanced customer management tools, such as the ability to sort and view customers based on their number of orders or total amount spent. These tools are not available on normal Squarespace website subscription plans. We will cover subscription plans in more detail later in this chapter.
